This bulletin supersedes Technical Service Bulletin #18-27-85 which should be removed from your files. The revision includes the addition of an Authorized Modification Label and the model application as two wheel drive only.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Subject models may exhibit an acceleration surge and steady state surge during engine warm-up. This surge will be less noticeable, but may be still present when the vehicle reaches normal operating temperature. This condition will be more pronounced in cold ambients.

REPAIR PROCEDURES
Manual Transmission
1. Reset basic timing from 5~ to 8~ BTDC.
2. Remove carburetor air cleaner assembly. Cover carburetor secondary venturi to prevent air bleed jet from falling into engine.

3. Carefully remove primary air bleed jet from carburetor air horn (Figure 1).
4. Install #65 primary air bleed jet, PN MD606848 (Figure 1).
5. Reinstall air cleaner assembly to carburetor air horn.
6. Repair will also require the removal of the original spring dampened clutch disc and the installation of a rubber dampened clutch disc.
Clutch installation instructions should be followed as outlined in Section 6 (Clutch) of the respective year service manual.

7. Type information on Authorized Modification Label, PN 4275086, as illustrated in Figure 2.
8 Install label next to or near original VECI label.
Automatic Transmission
1. Reset basic timing from 5~ to 8~ BTDC.
