SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Rough idle when vehicle is at normal operating temperature.

DIAGNOSIS

Be sure vehicle is operating to specifications using the ECI checker and Test Procedure. If vehicle still exhibits condition, proceed with this repair.

*Computer Kit PN MD117387 includes ECU PN MD117208 and a Connector Assembly PN MD117384.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

This repair procedure involves replacing the ECU with a modified ECU.

NOTE: 1985 CONQUEST MODELS WITH INTERCOOLER WERE BUILT TWO
(2) DIFFERENT WAYS, DEPENDING ON DATE OF MANUFACTURE. THE DIFFERENCE IS IN THE HARNESS AT THE ECU (ELECTRONIC CONTROL, UNIT). THERE WERE TWO (2) METHODS OF CONNECTING A MODULATOR USED IN PRODUCTION TO CORRECT A SURGE. THIS REPAIR WILL INCORPORATE THAT CORRECTION AND REQUIRE THE REMOVAL OF THE PRODUCTION MODULATOR AND HARNESS. 1986 VEHICLES ONLY REQUIRE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ECU.



1985 VEHICLES ONLY

On vehicles built before February 11, 1985, it will be necessary to remove the modulator and adapter harness and connect the main wiring to the new ECU, as shown below. Remove old ECU and install new ECU, PN MD117208, according to the service manual procedure.



On 1985 vehicles built on or after February 11, 1985, it will be necessary to remove the modulator and install a connector assembly, PN MD117387 (supplied in package), into the end of the main harness that the modulator was connected to as shown below. Remove the old ECU and install the new ECU, PN MD117208, according to the service manual procedure.



1986 VEHICLES

Remove old ECU and install the new ECU, PN MD117208, according to the service manual procedure.

Attach Authorized Modification Label, PN 4275086, as illustrated below.
