Vehicle Damage Warnings
DURING ENGINE START
1. After engine has started, allow engine to operate at idle speed for several minutes.
2. If engine has not been started for a long period of time (several days), operate engine at idle speed until engine oil has circulated throughout engine assembly.
3. When the turbocharger has been replaced with a new unit, remove oil pipe by loosening top flare nut, then pour clean engine oil directly into the oil filter port.
DURING ENGINE OPERATION
1. Check oil pressure gauge and confirm that normal oil pressure is available.
2. If a rapping or rumbling noise is emitted by rotating components of the turbocharger, stop engine and completely check turbocharger assembly.
DURING ENGINE SHUT DOWN
1. Allow engine to operate at idle speed for several minutes before stopping the engine. If the engine was operating under a heavy load, stopping the engine abruptly could overheat and damage the turbocharger bearings.
