Fig. 3 Location of air horn attaching screws:

1. Remove upper choke lever retaining screw and the choke lever, Fig. 2.
2. Remove choke rod from lower lever inside float bowl casting by holding lower lever outward with small screwdriver and twisting rod counterclockwise.
3. Remove No. 10 torx head screw from metering rod hanger and remove hanger and the metering rods.
4. Remove pump link retainer and remove link from lever.
5. Remove choke vacuum diaphragm hose from tube on float bowl.
6. Remove air horn mounting screws, Fig. 3, and secondary air baffle deflector.
7. Remove air horn from float bowl by lifting it straight up, being careful not to damage oxygen feedback connector or small tubes attached to air horn.
8. Remove choke diaphragm screws and separate diaphragm from air horn, then remove choke diaphragm link.
9. Invert air horn and, using tool C-4898 or equivalent, remove rich mixture stop screw.
10. Using suitable punch, drive out lean and rich mixture screw plugs.

Fig. 4 Removing idle air bleed valve:

11. Remove idle air bleed valve as follows:
a. Cover internal bowl vents and air inlets to bleed valve with masking tape.
b. Carefully align a No. 35 (.110 inch) drill bit on rivet head and drill only enough to remove rivet head, Fig 4.
c. Using suitable punch, drive remainder of rivet from casting.
d. Repeat steps b and c to remove other rivet.
e. Lift out cover and remove any pieces of rivet still inside tower, using compressed air to blow out remaining chips.
f. Remove idle air bleed valve and discard O-rings.
12. Remove staking from accelerator pump seal retainer and remove seal and seal retainer.
13. Remove solenoid metering rod plunger by lifting it straight up.
14. Remove and discard air horn gasket.
15. Remove accelerator pump plunger from pump well.
16. Remove plastic filler block from fuel bowl.
17. Carefully lift out each metering rod and spring assembly from guided metering jets.
18. Remove oxygen feedback solenoid attaching screw.
19. Using tool C-4898 or equivalent, remove lean mixture solenoid screw, then the feedback solenoid assembly. Do not attempt to remove plunger spring or connector wires from solenoid assembly.
20. Remove solenoid screw tension spring located next to float hanger pin and the solenoid tension spring from bottom of float bowl.
21. Remove float assembly and float needle by pulling up on retaining spring.
22. Remove needle seat and gasket from float bowl.
23. Using tool C-4898 or equivalent, remove primary main metering jets.
24. Remove pump discharge check ball retainer, then invert bowl and catch check ball.
25. Remove secondary air baffle.
26. Remove solenoid idle stop.
27. Remove choke cover as follows:
a. Place carburetor in suitable holding fixture.
b. Using No. 21 (.159 inch) drill bit, drill choke cover retaining rivets only enough to remove rivet heads.
c. Remove choke cover by pulling straight up.
d. Using suitable punch, drive remainder of rivets out of choke housing.
28. Remove choke mounting screw from inside choke housing and slide choke assembly out of float bowl.
29. Remove secondary throttle valve lock out lever from float bowl.
30. Remove choke intermediate shaft cup seal.
31. Remove fuel inlet nut, gasket, filter assembly and spring, discarding filter assembly and gasket.
32. Remove three throttle body to bowl attaching screws and lock washers and remove throttle body assembly.
33. Remove and discard throttle body to bowl gasket.
34. Place carburetor in suitable holding fixture.
35. Remove pump rod from throttle lever by rotating rod until tang on rod aligns with lever.
36. Remove concealment plugs as described under ``Concealment Plug Removal.''
