SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Seat back rattle on subject model vehicles may be the result of an improperly installed or deformed bushing on the seat back. To remedy this condition, use the following procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED
1 Flip Lock Tool (includes package of 10 bushings)* Miller #C-4985
1 Bushing Per Seat Back (available from Parts PN 6033020
Supply)
REPAIR PROCEDURE
The repair will consist of replacing the seat back bushings.
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Remove seat attaching nuts.
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Disconnect wiring to power seat, if so equipped.
5. On 60-40 drivers seat, remove inner seat belt mounting bolt.
6. Remove seat from vehicle and place upside down on a clean surface.
7. Remove mounting nuts from bezel on power seat switch control and remove bezel, if so equipped.
8. Remove outer hinge arm cover.
9. Remove recliner cable mounting bracket screw and disconnect cable from recliner, if so equipped.
*Tool must be used for proper installation of bushing.
10. Detrim seat cushion enough to expose hinge arm mounting bolts.
11. Remove bolts and carefully separate seat back from cushion.
12. Remove seat back trim enough to expose bushing on inner side.
13. Remove and discard old bushing.

14. Position new bushing into seat back and, using Tool C-4985, compress bushing until it is tight (Figure 1).
15. Remove tool and retrim seat back.
16. Carefully position seat back to cushion and install and tighten hinge arm mounting bolts.
17. Retrim seat cushion.
18. Connect recliner cable and install and tighten mounting bracket screw, if so equipped.
19. Install outer hinge arm cover.
20. Install and tighten power seat switch bezel, if so equipped.
21. Position seat in vehicle.
22. On 60-40 drivers seat, install and tighten inner seat belt mounting bolt.
23. Connect wiring to power seat, if so equipped.
24. Raise vehicle and install and tighten seat attaching nuts.
25. Lower vehicle and verify proper seat operation.
