16-Step B, 8 Volts to Pickup Coil
1. With distributor pick-up coil electrical connector disconnected and ignition switch in RUN position, connect a voltmeter between pick-up coil electrical connector terminal with black/light blue and ground.
2. If voltmeter reading is 7 1/2 to 9 volts, check to ensure distributor rotor rotates while engine is being cranked. If rotor rotation is satisfactory, replace distributor pick-up coil.
CAUTION: Before replacing the pick up make sure the terminals in the distributor harness connector are not spread apart so that they cannot touch the pick up coil connector pins.
3. If voltmeter indicates 0 voltage, check wiring from pick-up coil electrical connector black/light blue for open circuit.
