DR-12A Heated Air Intake System

This test must be done with a COLD engine.
1. Disconnect air duct from air cleaner snorkel.
2. Disconnect vacuum supply hose to the heated air intake system air temperature sensor.
3. Connect auxiliary vacuum supply to air temperature sensor and 15 inches of vacuum.
4. If vacuum builds up and closes heated air door and then bleeds down, proceed to Test 13 (Step A) with 4-97/1.6L engine or Test 13 (Step B) with 4-135/2.2L engine. On 4-97/1.6L engine, there is vacuum delay valve on opening of the door when vacuum bleeds off.
5. If vacuum builds up and door does not close, replace or repair door.
6. If vacuum does not build up or does not bleed down, replace air temperature sensor.
7. If vacuum builds up, bleeds down, but heated air door does not open, repair or replace door as required.
