DR-22A Checking EGR System

This test must be performed with engine at normal operating temperature.
1. Disconnect vacuum hose, then attach an auxiliary vacuum supply to the EGR valve. Connect a tachometer to the engine. If equipped disconnect and plug solenoid kicker vacuum hose.
2. Start engine and momentarily accelerate to above 1100 RPM, then allow the idle speed to stabilize for two minutes.
3. Slowly apply vacuum to the EGR valve. When applied vacuum reaches 2---5 inches engine speed should drop or stall, and continue to drop or stall as more vacuum is applied. If speed drops or stalls as specified, proceed to Test B.
4. If speed does not drop or stall as specified, replace EGR valve.
