DR-31A Basic Ignition Timing


This test must be performed with engine at normal operating temperature.
1. Connect a tachometer, and timing light to the engine. Ground the carburetor switch.
2. Start the engine and allow it to reach proper operating temperature, then momentarily raise engine speed above 1100 RPM.
3. Disconnect and plug computer vacuum hose, and if equipped the solenoid kicker vacuum hose. Ensure idle speed drops below curb idle specifications.
4. Check timing, and adjust to specifications if needed, then proceed to Step B.
