Failure of air conditioning controls on subject vehicles may be diagnosed and corrected using the following chart:

Failure Mode Correction

1. Air directional pushbutton will Replace air directional not stay depressed. Defrost, floor switch.
bi-level.

2. No heat (vacuum remains on water Replace air directional valve). switch.

3. No temperature control (cable disReplace housing and lever connected from temperature lever). assembly.

4. A/C pushbutton stays depressed. Replace A/C pushbutton switch.

5. High effort recirculation (5 lbs. +).

^ Auto adjust clip on temperature Readjust cable is misadjusted.

^ Pin on A/C control binds on Replace control. third lever.

^ Bent or incorrectly routed See Item 6. temperature cable.

6. High effort temperature control. Locate the temperature cable above the accelera- ^ Bent or incorrectly routed tor pedal and gently pull temperature cable. down to correct the cable
routing. If high effort persists, change the temperature cable.
Failure Mode Correction

7. Sonic weld pin breaking (3rd Replace housing and lever assembly. lever pivot pin).


Failure of heater controls on subject vehicles may be diagnosed and corrected using the following chart:

Failure Mode Correction

1. Control housing and plate Replace housing and lever assembly. separation (allowing loose implant circuit).

2. Temperature lever and knob rocks. Replace housing and lever assembly.
