14A Heated Air Intake System (Engine Cold)


1. With engine cold, disconnect air duct from air cleaner.
2. Disconnect vacuum hose from heated air intake system air temperature sensor.
3. Connect a hand operated vacuum pump to air temperature sensor and apply at least 15 inches of vacuum.
4. With ambient temperature below 76°F, if vacuum builds up and heated air door closes, then vacuum bleeds down, opening the heated air door, proceed to Test 14 step B.
5. If vacuum builds up, but heated air door does not close or if vacuum bleeds down and door does not open, check door for binding and repair or replace door as necessary.
6. If vacuum builds up, but does not bleed down, replace air temperature sensor.
