REPAIR PROCEDURE

This procedure is to remove the vapor conister purge orifice.

1. After insuring that the entire purge system is functional per the Driveability Test Procedure (unrestricted vacuum lines, operational purge solenoid, etc.), locate the 5/16" I.D. hose leading from the top center of the vapor canister to the ported vacuum fitting on the throttle body. This line is directly under the 1/8" vacuum line from the purge solenoid at the canister.

2. Find the brown in-line plastic connector, PN 4300907 (which contains a .040" restrictor), located 3" from the canister in the 5/16" I.D. line. Replace this brown connector with the black connector, PN 4179981 (unrestricted).

NOTE: THIS BLACK CONNECTOR WAS INSTALLED AS A PRODUCTION RUNNING CHANGE FOR ALL 1985 2.2L TURBOCHARGED ENGINES. SINCE INCORPORATION DATES VARY DUE TO PLANT AND VEHICLE COMPLEXITY, BE SURE THAT VEHICLE CONTAINS THE BROWN CONNECTOR BEFORE REPLACING.
3. Clean existing hose routing label and attach new hose routing label, PN 4179835, over original label.
