SYSTEM/CONDITION

Grinding noise in clutch when clutch pedal is depressed full travel.

DIAGNOSIS

1. Apply parking brake.

2. Place transaxle in neutral.

3. Start engine and run at curb idle.

4. Fully depress clutch pedal all the way to the floor and listen for the grinding noise. Then, partially release the pedal (1-1/2-2") and listen for the noise. If the noise disappears when the pedal is raised slightly, then the problem may be a result of excessive clutch pedal travel.

PARTS REQUIRED: 1 Bumper Stop PN 4336568

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Depress clutch pedal.

2. Remove original clutch pedal bumper stop (Fig. 1).
3. Install new bumper stop (PN 4336568) in place of the original one.

4. Release the clutch pedal.

5. Reset the clutch adjustment by lifting the clutch pedal enough to allow the cable positioner to separate from the adjuster.

6. Stroke the pedal 3-4 times to allow the adjuster mechanism to attain proper adjustment.

7. Start engine and check for proper clutch operation.
