SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Hood flutter complaints on the subject model vehicles may be caused by an inadequate adhesive bond between the inner and outer hood panels.

PARTS REQUIRED

1 - Urethane Kit PN 4267906
1 - Wire Brush
1 - Caulking Gun

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Unlatch hood and prop open.

2. Carefully remove hood silencer pad.

3. With fingers, attempt to separate inner panel from outer panel at each area of bonding. When the failed bonding area(s) has been located, insert a trim stick between the inner and outer panel at each point.

4. Using the wire brush, carefully clean the surfaces at the failed point. (It is not necessary to remove the paint from the panel surfaces.)

5. Apply primer from the urethane kit to the hood outer panel, using the applicator supplied, at cleaned areas. Allow to dry for a minimum of 30 minutes.

6. Using caulking gun apply a 1/2" diameter bead of urethane primed area(s).

7. Carefully remove the trim stick, and apply light hand pressure to inner panel to insure bond between the two panels.
8. Attach hood silencer pad.

9. Remove prop and close, but do not latch hood until adhesive has had adequate time to dry.

NOTE: IF POSSIBLE, ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO STAND OVERNIGHT.
