C.Install Carburetor Choke Adjustment Shim
1. Drain about one gallon of engine coolant from the radiator and save for later use.2. Remove the throttle return spring.
3. Remove the carburetor following Service Manual procedures.
4. If the CO reading from step B4 was greater than 2 percent, replace the jet mixture solenoid valve as follows:
a. Remove the jet mixture solenoid valve.
4. b. Install the new Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve (P/N MD612014) and tighten to 2.2 ft-lbs (2.9 N-m).
NOTE: Do not over tighten the Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve since this will distort the valve and cause an over rich condition.
5. Insert the fast idle release tool between the fast idle cam lever and the wax element housing.
6. Turn tool counterclockwise (about 45 degrees) until the tool is wedged in position. This provides the needed clearance between the choke adjusting screw and the plunger.
7. Using the installation stick attached to the choke shim, install the shim on the choke adjusting screw.
8. Rotate the fast idle release tool clockwise and remove.
9. Detach the installation stick from the shim by twisting the stick until it breaks free from the shim.
10. Insure that the choke adjusting shim is securely installed between the plunger and the adjusting screw.
