Output Diagnostic Test Mode (Circuit Actuation Tests)
The diagnostic readout box is used to put the on-board diagnostic system in three different modes of testing as called for in the driveability test procedure. The following are instructions on how to do this:DIAGNOSTIC MODE
1. Connect Tool C-4805 to the mating connector located in the wiring harness by the left front shock tower.
2. Place the read/hold switch on the readout box in the READ position.
3. Open the carburetor switch by placing the fast idle speed adjusting screw on the highest step of the fast idle cam.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the run position and wait for 00 to appear on the readout box display.
5. Move the read/hold switch to the HOLD position.
6. Record all codes. NOTE: You may stop the displaying of codes by moving the read/hold switch to the read position. Returning to the hold position will continue the displaying of codes.
CIRCUIT ACTUATION TEST MODE (ATM TEST)
1. When Code 55 is displayed, depress ATM button on tool to activate display.
2. If a specific ATM is desired, hold ATM button down until desired test code is displayed. The computer will continue to turn the selected circuit on and off for as long as five minutes or until ATM button is depressed again or if ignition switch is turned off. If ATM button is not pressed again, the computer will continue to cycle the circuit for five minutes before shutting system off. Shutting ignition switch off will also shut test mode off.
SWITCH TEST MODE
1. Put the system into the diagnostic test mode and wait for 55 to appear on the readout box display.
2. Make sure all the switches that send an input to the computer are turned off.
3. Press the ATM button on the readout box and immediately move the read/hold switch to the READ position.
4. Wait for 00 to appear on the readout box display.
5. Turn on the desired switch for input into the computer.
6. If the input is received by the computer the display will change to 88 when the switch is turned on and then change back to 00 when the switch is turned off.
