A. Inspect EGR Valve & Passages & Clean (If Necessary)

1. Remove the air cleaner assembly and plug the vacuum tee.

2. Clean the choke linkage with MOPAR Brake and Carburetor Parts Cleaner, Part No. 4318037, or equivalent.





3. Clean the primary air bleed jet, secondary air bleed jet and choke shaft, (Figure 1).

4. Drain about one gallon of engine coolant from the radiator and save for later use.

5. Remove the throttle return spring.

6. Remove the carburetor following Service Manual procedures.

7. Remove the EGR valve from the intake manifold. Place a shop towel over the intake manifold opening.

8. Inspect the EGR valve and intake manifold passages for carbon deposits and remove as necessary.

NOTE:
Use of a shop vacuum cleaner will aid in cleaning out any loose carbon deposits from manifold passages.

9. Using a new EGR gasket, reinstall the EGR valve.
