J. Install Intermediate Harness (If Necessary)
1. Locate the Carburetor Control Unit (CCU) under the center console (Figure 17).2. FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES:
a. Verify the presence of an intermediate harness between the smaller of the two CCU connectors and the CCU (Figure 18).
b. If the intermediate harness is missing, install one as follows:
1) If not previously performed, check any radio station presets and record them for reference.
2) With the ignition key in the OFF position, disconnect the battery negative cable.
3) Disconnect the smaller of the two CCU connectors.
4) Insert the intermediate harness between the CCU and connector.
5) The connector may be attached to the forward facing side of the CCU with the provided adhesive tape.
6) Reconnect the battery negative cable.
3. FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION VEHICLES:
a. Verify the presence of an intermediate harness between both of the CCU connectors and the CCU (Figure 19).
b. If the intermediate harness is missing, install one as follows:
1) If not previously performed, check any radio station presets and record them for reference.
2) With the ignition key in the OFF position, disconnect the battery negative cable.
3) Disconnect both of the CCU connectors.
4) Insert the intermediate harness between the CCU and the two connectors.
5) The harness connectors may be secured to the vehicle floor with the provided adhesive tape.
6) Peel the protective backing from the harness modulator adhesive strip and attach the modulator to the forward facing side of the CCU as shown in Figure 20.
7) Reconnect the battery negative cable.
