J. Vacuum Hose Harness Installation

NOTE:
See Figure 21 for harness layout and description of connection points.





1. Assemble the Vacuum Control Valve and vacuum hose harness. Match the blue, red, and white tracer hoses to the corresponding ports on the valve (Figure 22).





2. Remove the vacuum hose between the thermovalve and the EGR valve as shown in Figure 23.





3. Install the hose assembly between the EGR valve and the thermovalve as shown. Connect the hose from the vacuum delay valve to the EGR valve. Connect the hose from the harness connector to the thermovalve (Figure 24).





4. Locate and cut the vacuum hose from the intake manifold vacuum joint as shown in Figure 25. This is the vacuum hose or tee leading to the air cleaner which was plugged during Step A-1.





5. Insert the harness vacuum tee at the end of the white tracer hose into the cut ends of the hose (Figure 26).





6. Locate the vacuum hose connecting the carburetor base and the depression chamber. Cut the hose as shown (Figure 27).





7. Route the vacuum hose harness around the rear of the carburetor and insert the F-connector into the cut ends of the hose (Figure 28).

8. Secure the harness to the carburetor water hose with the shorter of the two supplied tie straps to prevent interference with the carburetor linkage.





9. Locate and remove the vacuum hose connecting the Secondary Air Control Solenoid and the Secondary Air Control Valve (Figure 29).





10. Disconnect the remaining vacuum hose from the Secondary Air Control Solenoid front port and connect it to the tee in the red tracer hose of the harness. Connect the short line from that tee to the front solenoid port (Figure 30). Connect the green tracer hose from the harness to the rear solenoid port.





11. Connect the remaining green tracer hose of the harness to the Secondary Air Control Valve. Retain the hose in place using the longer of the two supplied tie wraps (Figure 31).

12. install the supplied bracket on the secondary air hose near the air cleaner assembly.





13. Clip the Vacuum Control Valve into the bracket as shown in Figure 32.

14. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
