A. Install Jet Mixture Solenoid

1. Remove the air cleaner assembly and plug the vacuum tee.

2. Clean the choke linkage with MOPAR Brake and Carburetor Parts Cleaner, PN 4318037, or equivalent.





3. Clean the Primary Air Bleed Jet, Secondary Air Bleed Jet, and Choke Shaft, (Figure 1).

4. Drain about one gallon of engine coolant from the radiator and save for later use.

5. Remove the throttle return spring.

6. Remove the carburetor following Service Manual procedures.





7. Remove the jet mixture solenoid (JMS) valve (Figure 2).

8. Insert the new jet mixture solenoid valve and hand tighten.

CAUTION:
If the solenoid threads seem to bind when tightening by hand, do NOT use force. Loosen and retighten to remove burrs and avoid cross-threading.

9. Place the provided 13 mm JMS tool on the provided inch-pound torque wrench.

NOTE:
The JMS tool must be at a 90 angle to the torque wrench to assure a correct torque reading.





10. Tighten the jet mixture solenoid to 26 in-lbs torque (Figure 3).

NOTE:
Do not over tighten the jet mixture solenoid valve since this will distort the valve and cause an over rich condition.

11. Connect the jet mixture solenoid electrical connector.
