8 Injector Interface Fault & Control Circuit
1. Turn ignition switch Off, then remove the air cleaner.
2. Disconnect the 60-way connector from SMEC and inspect for damaged terminals.
3. If terminals are damaged, repair terminals, then proceed to Test 16. If terminals are not damaged, place a jumper between terminal No. 58 of 60-way connector and ground.
4. Connect a remote starter switch between terminal No. 33 of 60-way connector and positive battery post.
5. Turn ignition switch On, then rapidly press and release the remote starter switch several times and observe fuel injector for spray.
6. If fuel is spraying from injector, replace defective SMEC, then proceed to Test 16.
7. If fuel is not spraying from injector, turn ignition Off, then disconnect 14-way connector from SMEC and inspect terminals for damage.
8. If terminals are damaged, repair terminals, then proceed to Test 16.
9. If terminals are not damaged, connect an ohmmeter between terminal No. 8 of 14-way connector and terminal No. 33 of 60-way connector.
10. If ohmmeter shows continuity, replace SMEC, then proceed to Test 16.
11. If ohmmeter does not show continuity, locate and repair open circuit in terminal No. 8 of 14-way connector to terminal No. 33 of 60-way connector, then proceed to Test 16.
