Effective October 4, 1988, beginning with engine number HA6461 and later, the timing belt material has been changed to reduce timing belt noise. In addition, oil pump sprocket has been changed to a tapered design. The new sprocket can be identified by the letter "T" stamped on it as indicated in Figure 1.

Chart:

The new timing belt and sprocket are interchangeable with earlier engines only if the new belt and sprocket are replaced as a set. Refer to the chart below for the part numbers.
