On models with airbag restraint system, battery ground cable must be disconnected and isolated before performing this procedure. Failure to do so may result in accidental deployment and personal injury.
1. Remove turn signal switch, refer to Vehicle Lighting/Turn Signals/Turn Signal Switch/Service and Repair.
2. Remove ignition key lamp assembly retaining screw and the assembly.
3. Remove snap ring from upper end of steering shaft.
4. Remove bearing housing to lock housing retaining screws, then bearing housing from shaft.
5. Remove lock plate spring and lock plate from steering shaft.
6. Remove buzzer/chime switch retaining screw, then switch.
7. Remove ignition switch attaching screws, then ignition switch.
8. Remove dimmer switch mounting screws, then disengage switch from actuator rod.
9. Remove bellcrank attaching screws, then slide bellcrank up until ignition switch actuator rod can be disconnected.
10. Place lock cylinder in the Lock position and remove key. With a suitable tool, depress spring loaded lock retainer and pull lock cylinder from housing bore.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
