6 Check Fuel Pressure & Throttle Position Sensor
1. Turn ignition switch Off, then loosen gas cap to relieve tank pressure.
2. Disconnect injector harness connector from throttle body, then using a jumper wire ground one terminal of harness connector.
3. Using second jumper, connect second terminal to battery positive for 10 seconds, then remove jumper wires and reconnect injector harness.
4. Install suitable fuel pressure gauge in fuel supply hose at throttle body.
5. With diagnostic read-out tool connected, put system in actuate ``Ign Coil.''
6. If fuel pressure is 13.5---15.5 psi, select ``Stop All Tests'' on diagnostic read-out tool. If fuel pressure is not 13.5---15.5 psi, put system into actuate ``Auto Shutdown Relay.''
7. Check if fuel pump is running. If fuel pump is running, check fuel line and filter for damage or restrictions and repair as necessary. if no restrictions are found, replace fuel pump, then proceed to Test 16.
8. If fuel pump is not running, select ``Stop All Tests,'' then turn ignition On.
9. Raise vehicle, disconnect in-tank fuel pump connector, then inspect for damage.
10. If terminals are damaged, repair terminals, then proceed to Test 16.
11. If terminals are not damaged, put system into actuate ``Auto Shutdown Relay,'' select ``Read Battery Voltage,'' then press volt/ohm button to read volts.
12. Touch voltmeter probe to dark green/black wire of pump connector. If voltmeter does not pulsate within 1 volt of battery voltage, locate and repair open or short circuit in dark green/black wire of pump connector.
13. If voltage pulsates within 1 volt of battery voltage, press volt/ohm button on diagnostic read-out tool to get ohmmeter. Touch ohmmeter probe to gray wire of fuel pump connector.
14. If ohmmeter does not show 0 ohms, locate and repair open circuit to ground in gray wire. If ohmmeter shows 0 ohms, reconnect fuel pump connector.
15. If fuel pump is running, proceed to Test 16. If fuel pump is not running, replace fuel pump and proceed to Test 16.
