7 Fuel Injector Driver Circuits & Fuel Injector
1. Remove air cleaner assembly, then connect diagnostic read-out tool to diagnostic connector.
2. Put diagnostic system in actuate ``Fuel Injector 1,'' then select voltmeter mode.
3. Touch voltmeter probe to the white/dark blue wire of injector connector.
4. If voltmeter does not read within 1 volt of battery voltage, proceed to step 5. If voltage reads within 1 volt, proceed as follows:
a. Turn ignition Off, disconnect 14-way connector at SMEC and injector connector from the throttle body, then inspect terminals for damage.
b. If any terminals are damaged, repair as necessary, then proceed to Test 16.
c. If terminals are not damaged, connect an ohmmeter between terminal No. 9 of 14-way connector and white/dark blue wire of injector connector.
d. If ohmmeter shows continuity, replace SMEC,then proceed to Test 16.
e. If ohmmeter does not show continuity, locate and repair open circuit in white/dark blue wire of injector connector to 14-way connector, then proceed to Test 16.
5. If voltage does not read within 1 volt of battery voltage, disconnect injector connector to throttle body, then inspect terminals for damage. If any terminals are damaged, repair terminals, then proceed to Test 16.
6. If terminals are not damaged, check voltage at dark green/black wire of injector harness connector.
7. If voltage does not read within 1 volt of battery voltage, locate and repair open circuit in dark green/black wire of injector harness connector to harness splice.
8. If voltage reads within 1 volt of battery voltage, put system in ``Stop All Tests.''
9. Remove screw and lift cap from top of injector, then inspect cap terminals for damage.
10. If terminals are damaged, repair terminals, then proceed to Test 16.
11. If terminals are not damaged, connect a jumper wire across injector cap terminals.
12. Connect an ohmmeter across connector pins at the throttle body. If ohmmeter shows continuity, replace fuel injector, then proceed to Test 16.
13. If ohmmeter does not show continuity, replace injector cap and injector wiring harness, then proceed to Test 16.
