Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect the Idle Speed Control Motor electrical connector.

ISC Motor Resistance Check:

2. Check for continuity by connecting an ohmmeter between terminals # 1 and # 2.
Refer to SPECIFICATIONS/ELECTRICAL.

Voltage Applied To ISC Motor:

3. Check the operation of the ISC Motor by connecting a 6 volt or lower power source between terminals # 1 and # 2.
CAUTION: Apply only a 6V DC or lower voltage. Locking of the Motor gears could result if a higher voltage is applied.

^ The ISC Motor should retract, if the positive lead from the power source is connected to terminal # 1.
^ If the positive lead from the power source is connected to terminal # 2, the ISC Motor should extend.

4. Replace the ISC Motor assembly, if it fails any of the above tests.
Refer to COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES.
