SAFETY RECALL TO INSPECT YOUR VEHICLE'S FRAME AND WELD IT IF NECESSARY

Dear Plymouth Prowler Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Chrysler Corporation has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1997 Plymouth Prowler vehicles.

The problem is...

Some aluminum frame welds on your Prowler (identified on the enclosed form), may be missing. A missing weld at the steering gear attachment could cause the steering gear to separate from the frame. This may result in a loss of steering control and could cause an accident without prior warning. A missing frame weld at several other locations could weaken the frame and cause increased injury to occupants if the vehicle is involved in an accident.

What Chrysler and your dealer will do...

Chrysler will repair your Prowler free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your vehicle's critical frame welds will be inspected. The inspection will take less than one hour to complete. However, additional time may be necessary depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed.

If the inspection determines that frame welding is required, arrangements will be made to have a frame welding specialist repair your vehicle which may take several days to coordinate.

What you must do to ensure your safety...

^ Simply contact the Prowler Frame Hotline at 1-888-300-6237 right away to schedule a service appointment. They will make all of the arrangements for the inspection and inform you which dealer in your area, and at what time, that you should bring your Prowler in for the inspection.

^ If you do not want to bring your Prowler in for the inspection yourself, Chrysler will pick up your Prowler from you, at your convenience, and transport it to the dealer in an enclosed trailer. It will be returned to you after the inspection and repair (if necessary) have been completed. Simply advise the Prowler Frame Hotline representative, that you would like this service.

^ Bring the enclosed Owner Notification Form with you to your dealer (or send it with the vehicle). It explains the required service to the dealer.
