Check for leakage at the caliper bore to piston seal (brake fluid in and around the dust boot area and lining) and for any ruptures in the piston dust boots. If a dust boot is damaged, or a fluid leak is detected install a new piston seal and dust boot on the caliper piston. When installing the piston seal and dust boot a caliper piston is found to be scored the piston should replaced DO NOT SAND CALIPER PISTONS TO REMOVE SCORING.Inspect the dust boots on the caliper guide pin bushings for signs of damage or deterioration. If a dust boot is damaged or deteriorated the dust boot and guide pin bolt bushing are a replaceable component of the rear caliper.
