Oil Pump Replacement

NOTE: It is necessary to remove the oil pan, oil pickup and oil pump body to service the oil pump rotors. The oil pump pressure relief valve can be serviced by removing the oil pan.

REMOVAL
1. Remove fan module. Refer to Cooling Systems for procedure.
2. Remove the accessory drive belts.
3. Remove crankshaft damper.
4. Drain cooling system below upper radiator hose level.
5. Remove upper radiator hose.
6. Remove timing belt covers.
7. Remove timing belt.
8. Remove crankshaft sprocket.
9. Drain engine oil and remove oil pan.
10. Remove oil pick-up tube from oil pump body.
11. Remove oil pump fasteners and remove pump from engine.


INSTALLATION
1. Prime oil pump before installation by filling rotor cavity with engine oil.
2. Install oil pump carefully over the crankshaft and into position. Install and tighten screws to:
^ M 8 Bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.)
^ M 10 Bolts to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.)
3. Install front oil pan to oil pump fasteners.
4. Install crankshaft sprocket.
5. Install timing belt.
6. Install the timing belt covers and vibration damper.
7. Install the accessory drive belts.
8. Install fan module, upper radiator hose, and fill cooling system.
