LEFT THROTTLE BODY

NOTE: If only one throttle body is replaced, the other must be cleaned. Refer to Cleaning Throttle Bodies.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect negative cable from battery
2. Hold throttle lever in wide open position. Remove throttle cable and speed control cables from throttle arm.
3. Remove tube connecting air cleaner to air plenum.

Air Intake Plenum Removal:




4. Disconnect air plenum from throttle bodies, PCV make up air tube and idle air control motor. Remove plenum from the right side of the vehicle.
5. Disconnect purge hose from throttle body.
6. Remove throttle body mounting nuts.

Left Throttle Body Removal/Installation:




7. The end throttle body shaft has a ball stud that fits into a socket in the synchronization shaft.
8. Slide throttle body back off of mounting studs. Separate the throttle body from the synchronization shaft. Remove throttle body.
9. Clean gasket from mating surfaces.

INSTALLATION
Prior to installing the left throttle body, remove and clean the right throttle body. Refer to Cleaning Coked Throttle Bodies.
Cleaning Coked Throttle Bodies

1. Position new gasket over throttle body mounting studs.
2. Connect throttle body to synchronization shaft. Ensure ball stud on enters socket in end of synchronization shaft. Ensure spring attaches to shaft and throttle body arm. Also, ensure the spring does not bind when opening and closing the throttle blade.
3. Install throttle body over mounting studs.
4. Tighten mounting nuts to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.) torque.
5. Connect purge tube to nipple on throttle body.
6. Hold throttle lever in wide open throttle position. Install throttle cable and speed control cable.
7. Check throttle body synchronization. Refer to Throttle Body Synchronization.

8. Install air plenum.
9. Install air cleaner to air plenum tube.
10. Connect negative cable to battery.
