Rear Suspension
The rear lower control arm used on this vehicle is made of a high strength aluminum alloy.
The control arm is made using a process called semi solid forging.
The lower rear control arm is attached to the lower rear frame rail using through bolts in rubber isolator bushings. The rubber isolator bushings are pressed into the control arm, and are not a serviceable component of the control arm.
The lower rear control arm contains the lower ball joint which is pressed into the control arm.
The lower rear control arm is also the lower mounting location for the rear shock absorber. The shock absorber is mounted to the lower control arm using a bolt going through the shock absorber clevis and shock absorber mounting bracket.
The lower control arm has a hole used for attaching the rear stabilizer bar attaching link to the lower control arm.
The only replaceable component of the lower rear control arm is the shock absorber mounting bracket.
