Push Rod Bearing Replacement

DISASSEMBLE
1. Remove rocker arm from vehicle.

NOTE: The vise used to hold the rocker arm during servicing of the push rod bearing MUST be equipped with soft covers. This is required to prevent damage to the rocker arm by the jaws of the vise.

2. Mount rocker arm securely in a vise.





3. Place Remover/Installer, Special Tool 8190-10, or equivalent and Cup, Special Tool 8190-6 on Press, Special Tool C-4212F, or equivalent. Place the assembled special tools on the rocker arm. Be sure Special Tool 8190-10, or equivalent is squarely seated on push rod bearing and Special Tool 8190-6, or equivalent is squarely seated on rocker arm.
4. Remove push rod bearing from rocker arm by tightening screw on Press, Special Tool C-4212F, or equivalent.





ASSEMBLE
1. Replacement push rod bearing is to be installed into rocker arm with chamfered side of bearing installed into push rod bearing hole in rocker arm. This bearing installation is required so installation tool will press against the flat side of the push rod bearing.





2. Place Remover/Installer, Special Tool 8190-10, or equivalent and Cup, Special Tool 8190-6, or equivalent on Press, Special Tool C-4212F, or equivalent as shown. Place the assembled special tools on the rocker arm. Be sure Special Tool 8190-10, or equivalent is squarely seated on square end of push rod bearing and Special Tool 8190-6, or equivalent is squarely seated on rocker arm.
3. Press push rod bearing into rocker arm by tightening screw on Press, Special Tool C-4212F, or equivalent.





4. Press push rod bearing into rocker arm until face of Removal/Installer Special Tool 8190-10, or equivalent is squarely seated against the rocker arm. This will ensure that the push rod bearing is centered in the rocker arm as required.
5. Install rocker arm on vehicle.
