This vehicle uses a combined shock absorber/coil spring assembly on the front suspension. The shock absorber is supplied by Koni and the coil spring is supplied by Rockwell. This style of shock absorber has the springs for the front suspension mounted around the body of the shock absorber. On this vehicle the top of the shock absorber is mounted to the front suspension rocker arm and the bottom of the shock absorber is mounted to the lower crossmember on the front of the flame. On this shock absorber the upper mount of the shock absorber uses a bearing type bushing to isolate the shock absorber from the frame. The lower mount of the shock absorber uses a conventional rubber and steel sleeve isolator bushing. The shock absorber provides the control for both the jounce and rebound control of the vehicle. This control is achieved by the shock absorber being hydraulically calibrated for its specific use on the front suspension of this vehicle. The shock absorber is also used to control the total jounce and rebound travel of the suspension system.
