Installation

1. Assemble pieces of Bushing Remover/Installer, Special Tool 8190, or equivalent and the isolator bushing as shown.
2. Isolator bushing is installed in knuckle using following procedure. Keep Bolt, Special Tool 8190-1, or equivalent from turning by holding it with a box end wrench on the hex. Turn Nut Special Tool 8190-2, or equivalent that is against the thrust bearing. This will push Special Tool 8190-9, or equivalent against the isolator bushing pressing the isolator bushing into the knuckle.
3. Continue turning Nut Special Tool, 8190-2, or equivalent until it can no longer be turned. When the nut can no longer be turned, the isolator bushing is seated against the knuckle.

4. Install trailing link in mounting bracket on frame of vehicle.

NOTE: Install the bolt and nut but do not tighten or torque at this time. The full weight of the vehicle must be supported by the suspension (vehicle at correct curb height) before tightening the trailing link mounting bolt.

5. Install bolt and nut attaching trailing link to frame bracket.
6. Install trailing link on rear knuckle.

NOTE: Install the bolt and nut but do not tighten or torque at this time. The full weight of the vehicle must be supported by the suspension (vehicle at correct curb height) before tightening the trailing link mounting bolt.

7. Install the bolt and nut, attaching the trailing link to the rear knuckle

CAUTION: When the shock absorbers are installed on this vehicle, the vehicle must be at curb height before either shock absorber mounting bolt is tightened and torqued to specifications. This is required to maintain the vehicles correct curb height.

8. Install shock absorber/coil spring assembly on vehicle.

9. Install the top of the shock absorber into the frame bracket. Install the shock absorber to frame bracket bolt. DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLT AT THIS TIME

10. Install the shock absorber clevis on the mounting bracket on the lower control arm. Install the shock absorber to placket bolt. DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLT AT THIS TIME
11. Install the wheel and tire.
12. Tighten the wheel mounting nuts in the proper sequence until all nuts are torqued to half the specified torque. Then repeat the proper tightening sequence to the full specified torque of 122 Nm (90 ft. lbs.).
13. Lower the vehicle.
14. Place the vehicle on a drive on type hoist an alignment rack.

NOTE: When jouncing the vehicle, the vehicle must be released at the bottom of the jounce cycle. This will ensure the vehicle's suspension will raise the vehicle to the correct curb height at the top of the jounce cycle.

15. Jounce the front and rear of the vehicle several times to allow the vehicle to settle at its correct curb height.
16. Torque the shock absorber upper mounting bolt to 162 Nm (120 ft. lbs.).
17. Torque the shock absorber lower mounting bolt to 162 Nm (120 ft. lbs.).
18. Tighten the trailing link to frame bracket mounting bolt to a torque of 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.).
19. Tighten the trailing link to knuckle mounting bolt to a torque of 163 Nm (120 ft. lbs.).
