Removal
NOTE: The knuckle does not require removal from the vehicle for the replacement of the trailing link isolator bushing.1. Raise vehicle on jackstands or centered on a flame contact type hoist.
NOTE: When removing the center cap from the wheel do not use a sharp or hard tool. Use of such a tool can damage the finish on the wheel and damage the center cap.
2. Remove center cap from wheel. Center cap is removed by inserting a trim stick into notch on center cap and prying it off the wheel.
3. Remove rear wheel and tire.
4. Remove nut and bolt mounting shock absorber clevis to mounting bracket/isolator on lower control arm.
5. Remove nut and bolt attaching shock absorber to frame bracket.
6. Remove shock absorber from vehicle.
7. Remove nut and bolt attaching trailing link to isolator bushing in rear knuckle.
8. Remove nut and bolt attaching trailing link to frame bracket.
9. Remove trailing link from vehicle.
10. Assemble pieces of Bushing Remover/Installer, Special Tool S190, or equivalent as shown for removal of the trailing link isolator bushing lions the knuckle.
11. Isolator bushing is removed from knuckle using the following procedure. Keep Bolt, Special Tool 8190-1, or equivalent from turning by holding it with a box end wrench on the hex. Turn Nut Special Tool 8190-2, or equivalent that is against the thrust bearing. This will pull Special Tool 8190-7, or equivalent and the isolator bushing into Special Tool 8190-6, or equivalent removing the isolator bushing from the knuckle.
