Safety Recall # 774 -- Frame Welds

^ This service requirement applies only to 1997 model year Plymouth Prowler (PR) vehicles built through December 10, 1997 (MDH 121008).

^ Some of the aluminum frame welds on the above listed vehicles, may be missing. To correct this condition, each involved vehicle must first be inspected by a specialist from ALCOA, the frame supplier. If any missing welds are identified, they must be added by a welding specialist from ALCOA.

^ All vehicle frame inspection and welding, if necessary, will be coordinated through the Prowler Frame Hotline at 1-888-300-6237. Due to the specialized nature of this issue, all frame inspection and welding must be performed by a representative of ALCOA. Chrysler dealers must provide a hoist for the inspection. If welding is required, Chrysler dealers must perform the disassembly required to gain access to the weld area(s) and reassembly after the welding is completed.

^ This recall will be launched in phases. Owners of vehicles in California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and the Washington D.C. metro area (Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.) will be notified initially.

Alternate Transportation:

^ If inspection determines that frame welding is required and the vehicle must be held overnight, dealers should attempt to minimize customer inconvenience by placing the owner in a loaner vehicle.

Parts Packages:

^ No parts are required to perform the frame inspection.
