Steering Gear To Steering Column Coupling:

This vehicle uses a corrugated design for the lower coupling used to connect the steering column to the steering gear.

This coupling has a hollow corrugated tube which allows the coupling to bend rather than colapse when a vehicle is involved in a collision.
