Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Replacement (FWD)
Removal Procedure
1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any power steering fluid.
2. Remove the bolt (2) from the power steering fluid cooler pipe (5).
3. Remove the bolt (4) from the cooler pipe.
Important: A bracket retains the power steering gear inlet hose to the power steering gear outlet hose.
4. Loosen the clamp (3) that retains the power steering cooler pipe to the end of the power steering gear outlet hose.
Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice.
5. Remove the gear outlet hose from the cooler pipe.
6. Loosen the clamp (6) that retains the cooler pipe to the power steering fluid reservoir.
7. Remove the cooler pipe from the reservoir.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice.
1. Install the power steering fluid cooler pipe (5) to the power steering fluid reservoir.
2. Install the cooler pipe to the end of the steering gear outlet hose.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
3. Install the 2 bolts (2, 4).
Tighten the bolts to 7.8 N.m (69.04 lb in).
4. Install the 2 hose clamps (3, 6).
Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice.
5. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.
Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice.
6. Bleed the power steering system.
