Transmission Cooler Pipes and Hoses Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove electric cooling fan from vehicle.
2. Place a drain pan or suitable container under the transaxle fluid cooler.
3. Remove the following from the fluid cooler inlet and the outlet:

1. The one clamp and the fluid cooler inlet hose
2. The one clamp and the fluid cooler outlet hose

4. Remove the following from the transaxle inlet and the outlet pipes:

1. The one clamp and the fluid cooler inlet hose
2. The one clamp and the fluid cooler outlet hose




5. Remove the one bolt and the fluid cooler pipe bracket.




6. Disconnect the fluid cooler inlet and outlet pipes from the transaxle.
7. Inspect the transaxle fluid cooler hoses for leaks or fatigue. Replace as necessary.
8. Inspect the fluid cooler pipes for kinks, leaks or other damage. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

1. Install or connect the fluid cooler inlet pipe, outlet pipe and bracket to the transaxle. Secure the pipe bracket to the transaxle with one bolt.

* Tighten the transaxle inlet and outlet fluid cooler pipe flare nuts to 35 N.m (25 lb ft).
* Tighten the fluid cooler pipe bracket bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

2. Install the following to the transaxle and fluid cooler:

1. The fluid cooler inlet hose to the fluid cooler inlet pipe. Secure with the one clamp.
2. The fluid cooler inlet hose to the transaxle fluid cooler. Secure with the one clamp.
3. The fluid cooler outlet hose to the fluid cooler outlet pipe. Secure with the one clamp.
4. The fluid cooler outlet hose to the transaxle fluid cooler. Secure with the one clamp.

3. Remove the drain pan from under the transaxle fluid cooler.
4. Refill the transaxle with AC Delco T-IV (GM Part No. 88900925), as necessary.
5. Install electric cooling fan on vehicle.
