Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Turn the ignition OFF.
Important: Use a six-point socket to remove the oil filter cap (1).
2. Remove the oil filter adapter cap (1) from the engine oil filter adapter (3).
Important: The oil filter cartridge (2) must be replaced at every service interval.
3. Remove the oil filter cartridge (2).
Discard the oil filter cartridge (2).
Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution (Safety Glasses Warning) .
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution (Service Precautions) .
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
5. Place a suitable container below the oil pan drain plug (1).
6. Remove the oil pan drain plug (1) from the oil pan (2).
7. Allow the oil to drain completely.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
1. Install the oil pan drain plug (1) to the oil pan (2).
Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
2. Lower the vehicle.

Notice: Lubrication must be applied to the threads of the oil filter cap prior to installation. Failure to lubricate the oil filter cap threads can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.
3. Lubricate the oil filter cap threads with clean engine oil.
4. Install the NEW oil filter cartridge (2).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

Notice: Proper oil filter cap tightening is mandatory. Failure to tighten the oil filter cap to the correct specification can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.
Important: Use a six-point socket to install the oil filter cap.
5. Install the oil filter cap (1) to the engine oil filter adapter (3).
Tighten the oil filter cap to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
6. Fill the engine with the appropriate oil type and quantity. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations ([1][2]Fluid Type Specifications) and Approximate Fluid Capacities (Capacity Specifications) .
7. Reset the service reminder display. Refer to Service Display Reminders (Service and Repair) .
