Crankshaft Balancer Installation
Installation - Up to xx/xx
Tools Required
* EN 46106 Engine Flywheel Holding Tool
* J 41998-B Crankshaft Balancer Installer
* J 45059 Angle Meter
1. The EN 46106 (1) must be installed.
Important: DO NOT lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal or crankshaft balancer sealing surfaces. The crankshaft balancer is installed into a dry seal.
2. Apply lubricant to the inside of the crankshaft balancer hub bore.
Important: Use the J 41998-B (1), nut, bearing and washer to install the crankshaft balancer (2).
Important: Make sure at least 10 threads of theJ 41998-B (1) are engaged before pressing the crankshaft balancer (2) in place.
3. Thread the J 41998-B (1) in the crankshaft (3).
4. Push the crankshaft balancer (2) into position by tightening the nut on the J 41998-B (1) until the large washer bottoms out on the crankshaft (3) end.
5. Remove the J 41998-B (1).
6. Install the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt (1).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
7. Tighten the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt.
* Tighten the bolt to 100 Nm (74 lb ft).
* Tighten the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt an additional 150 degrees using the J 45059.
8. Remove the EN 46106 (1).
Installation After - xx/xx

* J 45059 Angle Meter.
1. The EN 46106 (1) must be installed.
Important: DO NOT lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal or crankshaft balancer sealing surfaces. The crankshaft balancer is installed into a dry seal.
2. Apply lubricant to the inside of the crankshaft balancer hub bore.
Important: Make sure the key (1) located on the top of the crankshaft is correctly installed in the crankshaft. Failure to adhere to this may cause engine damage.
3. Install the crankshaft balancer (2) on to the crankshaft (3).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
4. Install the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt (1).
* Tighten the bolt to 100 Nm (74 lb ft).
* Tighten the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt an additional 150 degrees using the J 45059.
5. Remove the EN 46106 (1).
