Air Inlet Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the windscreen wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the plenum chamber cover panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) .




4. Remove the HVAC to bulkhead retaining bolt (1).
5. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the close out panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (LHD) (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the right side floor air outlet duct. Refer to Floor Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side (Floor Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side) .




8. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector (2).
9. Disconnect the HVAC module electrical connector (3).
10. Disconnect the blower motor control processor electrical connector (6).
11. Detach the I/P wiring harness to HVAC module assembly retaining clips (5).
12. Remove the HVAC support brace to HVAC module assembly retaining screws (7).
13. Remove the HVAC support brace (1) from the HVAC module assembly (4).




14. Disconnect the air intake fresh/recirculation actuator electrical connector (1).
15. Detach the wiring harness (2) from the air inlet assembly (4).
16. Remove the air inlet assembly to I/P carrier retaining bolt (3)
17. Remove the air inlet assembly to HVAC module assembly retaining bolts (5).





Important: Slide the air inlet assembly (2) to the right to detach the air inlet assembly (2) from the HVAC module assembly (1).


18. Detach the air inlet assembly (2) from the HVAC module assembly (1).

Important: Lower and rotate the air inlet assembly (1) clockwise to remove the air inlet assembly (1) from the vehicle.


19. Remove the air inlet assembly (1) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure






Important: Rotate the air inlet assembly (1) counter-clockwise and raise to install the air inlet assembly (1) to the vehicle.


1. Install the air inlet assembly (1) to the vehicle.
2. Attach the air inlet assembly (2) to the HVAC module assembly (1).





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

3. Install the air inlet assembly to HVAC module assembly retaining bolts (5)

Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

4. Install the air inlet assembly to I/P carrier retaining bolt (3).

Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

5. Connect the air intake fresh/recirculation actuator electrical connector (1).
6. Attach the wiring harness (2) to the air inlet assembly (4).




7. Install the HVAC support brace (1) to the HVAC module assembly (4).
8. Install the HVAC support brace to HVAC module assembly retaining screws (7).

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

9. Connect the blower motor control processor electrical connector (6).
10. Connect the HVAC module electrical connector (3).
11. Connect the blower motor electrical connector (2).
12. Attach the I/P wiring harness to HVAC module assembly retaining clips (5).




13. Install the HVAC module assembly to bulkhead retaining bolt (1).

Tighten the bolt to 7 N.m (62 lb in).

14. Install the right side floor air outlet duct. Refer to Floor Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side (Floor Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side) .
15. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement (Service and Repair) .
16. Install the closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (LHD) (Service and Repair) .
17. Remove the plenum chamber cover panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
18. Install the windscreen wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement (Service and Repair) .
19. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
