Heater Inlet Hose Replacement

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers


Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution (Safety Glasses Warning) .
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair) .





Important: Mark the position of the heater inlet hose (1) and the heater inlet hose retaining clamp (2) before removal to make sure of correct alignment during assembly.


3. Using J 38185 compress the heater inlet hose retaining clamp (2) and slide along the heater inlet hose (1).
4. Disconnect the heater inlet hose (1) from the heater core inlet pipe (3).





Important: Using a suitable tool, detach the heater inlet hose (1) by releasing the heater inlet hose quick connect fitting retaining clip (3).


5. Detach the heater inlet hose (1) from the heater inlet pipe quick connect fitting (2).




6. Remove the heater inlet hose (1) from the heater inlet pipe (2).



Installation Procedure

Caution: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice (Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice) .





Important: If reusing the heater inlet hose (1), align the heater inlet hose (1) with the marks made on the heater core inlet pipe (3) during the removal procedure.


1. Connect the heater inlet hose (3) to the heater core inlet pipe (2).
2. Using J 38185 slide the heater inlet hose retaining clamp (1) back into the original position on the heater inlet hose (3).





Important: Listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.


3. Connect the heater inlet hose (1) to the heater inlet pipe (2).
4. Refit the right side engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Service and Repair) .
