Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure (Up to 03 Oct 2006)

1. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair) .




Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution (Safety Glasses Warning) .
2. Disconnect the emission purge pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service) .





Important: Separate the evaporative emission (EVAP) pipes (2,3), by squeezing the quick connect fitting and separating the two connections.


3. Separate the emission purge pipes (2,3).
4. Remove the emission purge pipe bracket retaining screw (4).
5. Disconnect the emission purge pipe quick connect fitting (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service) .
6. Remove the emission purge pipe (2,3).



Installation Procedure (Up to 03 Oct 2006)





1. Connect the emission purge pipe quick connect fitting (1).
2. Install the emission purge pipe bracket retaining screw (4).

Tighten the screw to xx N.m (xx lb in).


Important: Push the two emission pipes together, listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.


3. Connect the emission purge pipes (2,3).





Important: Push the plastic quick connect fitting firmly on to the purge valve solenoid, listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.


4. Connect the emission purge pipe (1).
5. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair) .



Removal Procedure (From 03 Oct 2006)

1. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair) .

2. Disconnect the emission purge pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service) .




3. Disconnect the emission purge pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service) .
4. Remove the emission purge pipe (1).



Installation Procedure (From 03 Oct 2006)






Important: Push the plastic quick connect fitting firmly on to the metal pipe, listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.


1. Connect the emission purge pipe (1).





Important: Push the plastic quick connect fitting firmly on to the purge valve solenoid, listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.


2. Connect the emission purge pipe (1).
3. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair) .
