Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (6.0L Engine)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution (Safety Glasses Warning) .
1. Remove the engine dress cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair)
2. Place a large suitable container under the power steering fluid reservoir Inlet and outlet in order to collect draining fluid.

Important: The hose must be plugged to prevent the entry of foreign particles into the power steering system.

3. Release the power steering fluid reservoir inlet pipe/hose spring clamp (5) and disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir inlet pipe/hose (4) from the power steering reservoir (1). Plug the hose.
4. Release the power steering fluid reservoir outlet pipe/hose worm drive clamp (2).

Important: The hose must be plugged to prevent the entry of foreign particles into the power steering system.

5. Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet pipe/hose (3) from the power steering reservoir.
6. Plug the hose.

Important: The power steering fluid reservoir bracket locking tang must be released before removing the power steering reservoir.

7. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir (1) from the engine bracket.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the power steering fluid reservoir (1) to the engine bracket.
2. Remove the plug from the power steering fluid reservoir outlet pipe/hose (4).
3. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet pipe/hose (4) to the power steering reservoir (1).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

4. Tighten the power steering fluid reservoir outlet pipe/hose worm drive clamp (2).
5. Remove the plug from the power steering fluid reservoir inlet pipe/hose (3).
6. Release the power steering fluid reservoir inlet pipe/hose spring clamp (5) and connect the power steering fluid reservoir inlet pipe/hose (3) to the power steering reservoir (1).

Notice: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.

7. Fill power steering fluid reservoir with fluid to the MAX level mark on the reservoir.
8. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding (Service and Repair) .
9. Check for power steering fluid leaks.
10. Install the engine dress cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair) .
