Suspension - Clunk Noise From Front of Vehicle

TECHNICAL

Bulletin No.: 08-03-08-004

Date: May 19, 2008

Subject:
Clunk Noise From Front of Vehicle (Replace Front Stabilizer Shaft Insulators (Bushings))

Models:
2008 Pontiac G8

Built Prior to VIN Breakpoints 8L150898

Condition

Some customers may comment on a clunk type noise coming from the front of the vehicle.

Cause

This noise may be caused by the front stabilizer shaft insulator either missing (dislodged) or the shaft has moved into the split in the insulator.

Correction

After verifying that the vehicle has the condition described above, replace both front stabilizer shaft insulators with revised insulators. This new insulator has incorporated retention lips (1) and a material change to prevent the stabilizer shaft from moving into the split section of the insulator. Refer to the Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement procedure in SI.
