Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement

Removal Procedure





Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution (Safety Glasses Warning) Protective Goggles and Glove Caution in Cautions and Notices.

Important: When a suitable hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.


1. Install a suitable hood brace to the vehicle.

Important: The secondary hood latch retaining pin (1) is a single use part only. It must be discarded after removal.


2. Remove the secondary hood latch retaining pin (1) from the secondary hood latch (2).
Discard the pin.
3. Remove the secondary hood latch (2) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the secondary hood latch (2) to the vehicle.
2. Install a NEW secondary hood latch retaining pin (1) to the secondary hood latch.




3. Crimp the exposed end of the secondary hood latch retaining pin (1) capturing the retaining pin in its finished position.
