Coolant Heater Replacement (6.0L Engine)
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Service and Repair) .
Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution (Safety Glasses Warning) .
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution (Service Precautions) .
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
4. Disconnect the coolant heater cord electrical connector (1).
Important: Do not score the surface of the engine block hole (2) when removing the coolant heater (1).
5. Remove the coolant heater (1) from the engine block (2).
Installation Procedure
1. If reusing the old coolant heater (1), apply thread sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent to the threads.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
2. Install the coolant heater (1) to the engine block (2).
Tighten the coolant heater to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
3. Connect the coolant heater cord electrical connector (1).
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Service and Repair) .
6. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
