88. Engine Flywheel Installation
Engine Flywheel Installation
Important: The flexplate (1) will not initially seat against the crankshaft flange, but will be pulled onto the crankshaft by the flexplate to crankshaft retaining bolts (2). This procedure requires a 3 stage tightening process.
1. Install the flexplate (1).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
Important: Make sure the teeth of the J 42386-A J 42386-A (1) engage correctly with the ring gear teeth, before tightening the flexplate bolts.
2. Install the J 42386-A J 42386-A (1), using the two starter motor to cylinder block retaining bolts (2).
3. Install the NEW flexplate to crankshaft retaining bolts.
* Tighten a first pass in sequence to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
* Tighten a second pass in sequence to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
* Tighten a final pass in sequence to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
