Front Fender Replacement
Removal Procedure
Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).
2. Apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
3. Remove the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the hood hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
7. Remove the front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the front fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Remove the rocker panel moulding. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement ().
10. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Front Bumper Fascia Replacement).
11. Remove the front bumper fascia bracket. Refer to Front Bumper Impact Bar Bracket Replacement (Front Bumper Impact Bar Bracket Replacement).
12. Remove the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
13. Remove the side indicator. Refer to Repeater Lamp Replacement (Repeater Lamp Replacement).
14. Remove the front fender to front end module retaining bolt (1).
15. Remove the front fender to body side retaining bolts (1).
16. Remove the front fender to door pillar retaining bolts (1).
17. Remove the front fender to inner wheelhouse retaining bolts (1).
18. Remove the front fender from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Apply an even amount of urethane GMW3041 or equivalent (Between the second and fourth swage (A) and 25 mm wide (B) of the upper wheelhouse brace).
2. Position the front fender to the vehicle.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
Note: Do not fully tighten at this stage.
3. Install the front fender to inner wheelhouse retaining bolts (1).
Note: Do not fully tighten at this stage.
4. Install the front fender to door pillar retaining bolts (1).
Note: Do not fully tighten at this stage.
5. Install the front fender to body side retaining bolts (1)
Note: Do not fully tighten at this stage.
6. Install the front fender to front end module retaining bolt (1)
7. Install the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Tighten the front fender to inner wheelhouse retaining bolts (1) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
10. Tighten the front fender to door pillar retaining bolts (1) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
11. Tighten the front fender to body side retaining bolts (1) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
12. Tighten the front fender to front end module retaining bolt (1) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
13. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
14. Remove the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
15. Install the front fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement (Service and Repair).
16. Install the side indicator. Refer to Repeater Lamp Replacement (Repeater Lamp Replacement).
17. Install the rocker panel moulding. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement ().
18. Install the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
19. Install the front bumper fascia bracket. Refer to Front Bumper Impact Bar Bracket Replacement (Front Bumper Impact Bar Bracket Replacement).
20. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Front Bumper Fascia Replacement).
21. Install the front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Service and Repair).
22. Install the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
23. Lower the vehicle.
24. Install the hood hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement (Service and Repair).
25. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement (Service and Repair).
26. Carefully remove the tape from the corners of the panels and adjacent surfaces.
